Strap & Bracelet Guide

A watch's strap or bracelet shapes its overall look and how easily it pairs with different styles. At Craft Mod, we offer two strap options: a Jubilee bracelet and a leather strap. Each suits a different way of wearing the watch.
The Jubilee bracelet is made of five links arranged in a row. Two wider outer links sit on either side of three smaller center links. The links are joined using a pin and collar system, or, on higher end pieces, small screws. Compared with simpler three link designs, the extra links make the Jubilee bracelet more flexible and give it a smoother drape on the wrist.
A leather strap is built from four layers: an outer leather layer, a sweat resistant lining, a padding layer that gives the strap its shape, and a reinforcement layer that limits stretching. These layers are glued and then stitched together, either by hand using saddle stitching or by machine using lockstitching. The grade of leather, whether full grain, top grain, or genuine/bonded, is the main factor behind how long the strap lasts.
Both options share one requirement: the lug width must match the case exactly. If the size is wrong, neither the bracelet nor the strap can be fitted.
Beyond that, sizing works differently for each. A Jubilee bracelet is adjusted by adding or removing individual links, using a pin pusher or a small screwdriver. It is generally considered well fitted when one finger slides comfortably between the clasp and the wrist. A leather strap, on the other hand, is defined by its taper, the difference between the width at the lugs and the narrower width at the buckle, along with its thickness, which affects how structured or relaxed it feels. Length is chosen so the buckle closes within the middle holes, leaving room to adjust in either direction.
Choosing between the two comes down to daily habits, not which option is better. A Jubilee bracelet offers steady comfort in any weather. It needs no conditioning or replacement over time, and suits environments with frequent water or sweat exposure. A leather strap feels warmer and lighter on the wrist, and develops character with wear. It performs best when kept away from prolonged water contact, and benefits from occasional conditioning. The most practical approach is to match the choice to actual daily habits, rather than to which option seems more refined.
